Meet Kait
Behind the Brand
Kait Hoffman, Owner & Interior Designer
I was born and raised in sunny South Florida. Formally a nutrition major, yet after I took an elective class, Introduction to Interior Design, I discovered that I was not only studying the wrong thing, but I also discovered my love for design and all the details they entail. I later went on to receive my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design, where I also minored in Art, from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. I began working in the industry during my undergrad. Upon graduation, I began working in high-end residential design in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, FL. I later took a job in Hospitality & Senior Living Design in Aberdeen, SD, which is when I traded seafood and sandy beaches for chislic and snow! In spring of 2016, I decided to open AKID, which I simply ran as a side gig so I could still dabble in residential design while also working in Senior living. In 2018, I decided to jump in with both feet and solely run AKID, where I could provide residential and commercial design all under one umbrella.

Add Personality to Bring New Life to a Room
Coastal — Coastal design is not something I find my hands on often living life in the Midwest. However, it brings me back to my South Florida native roots, where I was born and raised. Most commonly inspired by the sandy beaches and blue waves, I also find myself gravitating towards the bright colors, simple fabrics and natural textures.
Modern Farmhouse — Not only a forever favorite, it is also the most sought after “look” I am continually asked to execute. Although this may not always be the case, I will forever love the simple color palettes, natural woods, occasional elements of midcentury and industrial design, and the longevity that the modern farmhouse look can entail.
